Who we are

PoolBoy is an AI-powered pool and hot tub care app built and operated by an individual developer. Our contact email is support@poolboyapp.info.

What data we collect

Data stored on your device

The following information is stored locally on your iPhone using AsyncStorage (device-only storage). It never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

• Your pool profile (name, pool type, size, water type, filter type, equipment, climate)
• Your chemical log history (readings, dates, and Wade's recommendations)
• Your notification preferences and maintenance task completion status

Data sent to Anthropic

When you use Wade (our AI advisor) or scan a test strip, the following is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response:

• Your pool profile details (size, type, equipment, climate)
• Your chat messages to Wade
• Test strip photos (for scanning only — analyzed and immediately discarded)
• Your chemical readings (when requesting Wade's analysis)

Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed through their API. You can review it at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not store your Wade conversations on any server — they exist only in the app on your device during your session.

Test strip photos

When you scan a test strip, your photo is sent directly to Anthropic's API over encrypted HTTPS, the chemical values are extracted, and the photo is immediately discarded from memory. Photos are never saved to your device's photo library, never stored on any server, and never retained after the scan is complete.

Data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your email address or require account creation
• We do not collect location data
• We do not use analytics or tracking tools
• We do not run advertising of any kind
• We do not share your data with any third parties except Anthropic (for AI features)

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the PoolBoy service — giving you personalized pool care advice, tracking your chemical history, and scheduling maintenance reminders. We use your pool profile to make Wade's advice specific to your pool rather than generic.

Data retention and deletion

Since all your data is stored on your device, you are in full control of it at all times. You can:

• Clear your chemical log at any time in Settings → Clear chemical log
• Reset your pool profile at any time in Settings → Edit pool profile
• Delete all data by deleting the PoolBoy app from your iPhone

We have no way to access or delete data on your behalf since we don't store it on our servers.

Children's privacy

PoolBoy is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

Security

All communication between PoolBoy and Anthropic's API is encrypted using HTTPS. Your pool profile and log data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, passcode, etc.).

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of PoolBoy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Since we store your data only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the app. For any other requests, contact us below.
